What does a heat meter measure?
Understanding energy, volume and temperature displays.
Measuring energy
A heat meter calculates transferred heat energy using the amount of fluid passing through the system and the difference between supply and return temperatures. Energy may be displayed in kWh, MWh or GJ.
Consumption for a billing period
A cumulative reading is different from consumption for a period. Period consumption is the closing reading minus the opening reading, using the same unit. One MWh equals 1,000 kWh.
Checklist
Record the serial number, unit, reading date and any error code. A flow-rate or water-volume display alone does not show the apartment’s heat energy consumption.
Regulations and implementation conditions can change; use the current text for the relevant period.
