Frequently asked questions

Technical topics.
Clear answers.

Common questions about metering and installation processes.

Are heat meters and heat cost allocators the same?

No. A heat meter measures transferred heat energy; a radiator-mounted allocator produces a consumption share for cost allocation. The distribution layout determines the appropriate solution.

Can every meter be read remotely?

No. The device module, protocol and installed reading infrastructure must be compatible. A preliminary review using the model and serial number is a good starting point.

What information is needed for a quotation?

Building location, number of units and meters, device make and model, current installation or reading method and the requested scope are sufficient to begin.

Does the calculator show my actual bill?

The tool shows the basic area and consumption allocation for central heating using the entered values. Hot water and special cases require separate assessment. The result is not an official cost statement.

Why does an empty apartment pay a common share?

The common share in central heating is based on area. Not using an apartment does not automatically remove this contribution. Check area and consumption items separately.

What should I do if a meter is faulty?

Record a display photo, serial number and error code and notify management. Do not interfere with the seals or device; technical checks and the allocation method must be assessed together.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Information on Tiered Natural Gas Pricing and Heat Cost Allocation

Following BOTAŞ’s announcement dated 3 April 2026, within the framework of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) and BOTAŞ regulations, tiered pricing for residential consumers took effect on 4 April 2026.

Under this scheme, the government subsidy varies by consumption tier, increasing the price paid per cubic metre. Depending on the region and consumption level, the difference in unit costs between Tier 1 and Tier 2 ranges from 60% to 80%.

Although total natural gas bills issued to buildings have increased, no changes have been made to the Regulation on the Allocation of Heating and Domestic Hot Water Costs in Central Heating and Hot Water Systems. Accordingly, costs continue to be calculated and allocated using individual unit meter readings and the building’s current natural gas invoice amount.
