Does closing a radiator remove the bill?

Consider measurement, the common share and minimum temperature together.

More than one cost item

Closing a radiator does not remove the building’s common costs. The amount payable is not determined by a single device display alone.

A charge is not automatically a penalty

Do not interpret every high or additional charge as a penalty. The statement should show the common share, consumption share and supporting data for any adjustment separately.

Do not interfere with the device

Removing, covering or tampering with an allocator or seal undermines reliable measurement. Disputes should follow a device-check and written-review process.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Information on Tiered Natural Gas Pricing and Heat Cost Allocation

Following BOTAŞ’s announcement dated 3 April 2026, within the framework of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) and BOTAŞ regulations, tiered pricing for residential consumers took effect on 4 April 2026.

Under this scheme, the government subsidy varies by consumption tier, increasing the price paid per cubic metre. Depending on the region and consumption level, the difference in unit costs between Tier 1 and Tier 2 ranges from 60% to 80%.

Although total natural gas bills issued to buildings have increased, no changes have been made to the Regulation on the Allocation of Heating and Domestic Hot Water Costs in Central Heating and Hot Water Systems. Accordingly, costs continue to be calculated and allocated using individual unit meter readings and the building’s current natural gas invoice amount.
